In this introductory workshop, you’ll learn simple, universally applicable approaches to move groups from confusion to clarity, consensus, and commitment. Through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and real-world application, you’ll gain the tools and confidence to design effective meetings that foster collaboration and action. Participants will also receive a ToP certificate upon completion.

This unique training will equip participants to facilitate the Food Smarts Adapted for Recovery curriculum. This training is intended for staff and volunteers working with adults in substance use treatment or recovery. (If an agency has multiple participants, each participant must register separately so that their registration email address can then be added to our online training system)

The Master Trainer program certifies individuals to train facilitators for Food Smarts community workshops aimed at both kids and adults. Interested candidates should complete the application by October 24, 2025, for eligibility review. Selected applicants who are funded by CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL) will participate in a comprehensive training program at no cost.

This training is designed as a remote first aid for collaboratives and coalitions navigating the current CalFresh Healthy Living landscape. We will focus on triaging your group’s existing situation by identifying current challenges and opportunities. 

Body Connection is a series of six mindful movement lessons designed for integration with nutrition education interventions. Body Connection offers easy-to-follow and accessible mindful movement for adults (18+) and kids (grades 3-5) with a range of movement abilities.

During this course, you will: - Understand how positive and adverse experiences affect individual and community relationships to food and dietary health. - Learn the basic process and principles of a trauma-informed approach and how to apply it to pantry work. - Learn actionable steps that you can take to create client and community-centered food distributions. - Gain resources and tools for implementing trauma-informed practices in their distribution through the physical environment, nutrition education, and gathering neighbor feedback.

Change can be challenging, but your well-being doesn’t have to take a backseat. This workshop will guide you past the commercialized idea of self-care to a more sustainable, meaningful practice. You’ll learn how to spot and avoid the pitfalls of consumerism and diet culture, then build a personal self-care plan that empowers you to thrive and serve those around you more effectively. You’ll be able to carry these skills with you to support your well-being as you navigate change and new opportunities. Training Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2025 Training Time: 10:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.

This repeat session offers another chance to dive into a hands-on training designed to support a smooth and sustainable transition of leadership for your community garden. Together, we’ll explore how to use a trauma-informed and Appreciative Inquiry approach to plan for the future, strengthen community involvement, and ensure your garden continues to thrive. This training is open to all CalFresh Healthy Living staff, including those who have attended previous in-person Light Bulbs to Garden Bulbs sessions.

This course is for facilitators wanting to learn how to implement the Dads Around the Table (AtT) curriculum.

Food Smarts is a flexible, learner-centered cooking and nutrition curriculum with materials and lesson plans appropriate for K-12 youth and adults (including older adults).

This interactive training will equip participants to facilitate the Food Smarts: Waste Reduction curriculum for Kids. This curriculum aims to increase awareness of strategies and tools to support food waste reduction among young individuals.

This is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) required course that emphasizes the most important civil rights information designed to support CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL) work and the communities served. Please note, all CFHL funded staff, including state and local staff, must complete the Civil Rights training each year.

This course is designed to introduce the principles of Holistic Emotional First Aid, a compassionate framework for supporting ourselves and others during moments of emotional distress. You’ll learn what HEFA is, why it matters, and how its practices integrate mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and community-based approaches.

This training will provide participants with an understanding of the impact of stimulant use on women and how to provide strength-based and trauma-informed approaches that promote recovery.
