FFY 25 Civil Rights

Civil Rights is a USDA-required course that covers essential civil rights information. All staff funded by SNAP-Ed, including both state and local personnel, are required to complete this training annually. The FFY 25 Civil Rights for CFHL staff webinar is from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. This training is designed to support CalFresh Healthy Living (CFHL) work and the communities it serves. After attending the webinar, participants will be enrolled in an online course to complete a knowledge check. A score of 80% or higher is required to receive a certificate.

CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) Kids Club Training

Join us for an exciting and informative CATCH Kids Club (CKC) program training session, open to all CFHL staff who want to become implementers and/or trainers. This is also an opportunity for current implementers to recertify and enhance their skills. CATCH CKC is designed for elementary and middle-school-aged children (K-8) and consists of nutrition education and physical activities to encourage active living and healthy eating.

Nutrition Pantry Program for Implementers

The Nutrition Pantry Program is a healthy pantry initiative that implements policy, system, and environment changes at food distributions. Description: This unique training will bring a fresh perspective to your programs with the objective of increasing the health and resilience of the communities you serve.  Participants will: Explore the relationship between positive and adverse experiences and nourishment Learn the basic process and principles of applying a trauma-informed approach to food security settings Learn to implement the Nutrition Pantry Program (NPP) with food distributions in your community. Gain a deep understanding of the NPP mission, process, resources, leading pantry practices, and COVID-19 considerations Audience: SNAP-Ed implementers, food bank and pantry staff, University Extension professionals, and other individuals and organizations looking for an organized policy, systems and environment (PSE) intervention to adapt to their sites. [If an agency has multiple participants, each participant must register separately so their registration email address can then be added to our online training system.] Training Delivery and Dates:  This program includes self-paced content (videos, reflection activities, and readings) and live, instructor-led sessions. Registered participants will gain access to our online training system (TalentLMS) beginning early November, and will need to complete approximately 1.5 hours of self-paced work prior to the first live session on 11/21/24.  Key dates are as follows: Registration Closes: 11/20/24 Self-Paced Course Opens:  Early November Live Zoom Sessions: 11/21, 12/05, 12.19; Times: 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time Total Training Time:  Approximately nine hours total (4.5 hours of live sessions and about 4.5 hours of self-paced work) Next Steps: Upon completion of this course, participants are prepared to implement the Nutrition Pantry Program at their site(s) and will then receive access to additional resources, webinars, ongoing support, and our network of pantry partners.

Racial Equity and Implicit Bias (REIB) Statewide Initiative Workshops

The REIB Statewide Initiative has brought together a collaborative of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) experts to design our training curriculum. This curriculum will be used to provide training to county welfare department staff touching the CalWORKs and CalFresh programs. The workshops will be presented in a variety of modalities, including in-person, instructor-led online classes and longer-term learning collaboratives. Workshops will be offered from Summer 2023 through Winter 2024 at no cost to counties
